NgÃÂti Te WhatuiÃÂpiti, NgÃÂti Te Whatu-i-ÃÂpiti or NgÃÂi Te WhatuiÃÂpiti is a MÃÂori hapà « (subtribe or branch) of the NgÃÂti Kahungunu iwi in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.
The hapà « were descended from Te WhatuiÃÂpiti, who was a great-grandson of TaewhÃÂ, himself a son of RÃÂkei-hikuroa, the grandson of Kahungunu, and his second wife. NgÃÂi WhatuiÃÂpiti had a fierce rivalry with NgÃÂi Te Upokoiri, which was descended from Taraia, a son of RÃÂkei-hikuroa and his first wife.
