Merge
On March 31, 2005, Ochiai, along with the town of HokubÃ
 (from JÃ
ÂbÃ
 District), and towns of Katsuyama, Kuse and Yubara, and the villages of ChÃ
«ka, Kawakami, Mikamo and Yatsuka (all from Maniwa District) were merged to create the city of Maniwa.
