As of the 2020 census there were 24,686 people, 12,556 households, and 4,633 families residing in the township. The population density was . There were 13,823 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the township was 57.14% White, 23.61% African American, 0.49% Native American, 7.13% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 3.89% from other races, and 7.66% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.61% of the population.
There were 12,556 households, out of which 15.80% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 22.79% were married couples living together, 11.52% had a female householder with no spouse present, and 63.10% were non-families. 47.30% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.40% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.98 and the average family size was 2.84.
