5th Regional Command

The 5th Regional Command directly under the Vietnam People's Navy (VPN) is the Naval Operations Command that independently manages and protects the waters of the South of the South China Sea, and Gulf of Thailand in the waters of two provinces, CÃÂ Mau (the southwestern sea of Vietnam CÃÂ Mau) and KiÃÂªn Giang.

History

On October 26, 1975, 5th Coastal Region (VÃÂ¹ng DuyÃÂªn hÃ¡ÂºÂ£i 5) was established under the Naval Command.
In 1978, the 5th Coastal Region changed its name to the 5th Naval Region Command (BÃ¡Â»Â ChÃ¡Â»Â huy VÃÂ¹ng 5 HÃ¡ÂºÂ£i quÃÂ¢n) of the Navy.
On January 14, 2011, the 5th Naval Region Command was upgraded to the 5th Regional Command.
