Lombricine is a phosphagen that is unique to earthworms. Structurally, it is a phosphodiester of 2-guanidinoethanol and <small>D</small>-serine (not the usual <small>L</small>-serine), which is then further phosphorylated by lombricine kinase to phospholombricine.
