The Bayer designation Xi Sagittarii (þ Sagittarii) is shared by two stars, þ1 Sagittarii and þò Sagittarii, in the constellation Sagittarius, separated by 0.46ð in the sky. Because they are close to the ecliptic, they can be occulted by the Moon and, very rarely, by planets. The last occultation of þò Sagittarii by a planet took place on 22 December 1810, when it was occulted by Venus.
In Chinese, (), meaning Establishment, refers to an asterism consisting of þ2 Sagittarii, ÿ Sagittarii, àSagittarii, 43 Sagittarii, ÃÂ1 Sagittarii, and àSagittarii. Consequently, þ2 Sagittarii itself is known as (, .)
