Werner Knieperà(December 24, 1909àâÂÂàJuly 17,à1977) was aàGermanàpolitical official and manager.
Knieper studiedÃÂ lawÃÂ inÃÂ HeidelbergÃÂ andÃÂ Berlin.ÃÂ In Heidelberg he was a member of theÃÂ Corps Suevia HeidelbergÃÂ from 1930.ÃÂ After completing his studies, he entered the civil service.ÃÂ He became a member of theÃÂ SA.ÃÂ During World War II he served in the artillery as aÃÂ reserveÃÂ captain, most recently in theÃÂ Wehrmacht command staff.
Until 1966 he was head of the department for armament affairs in theÃÂ Federal Ministry of Defence.ÃÂ From December 13, 1966, to December 31, 1967, Knieper wasÃÂ Head of theÃÂ Federal Chancellery asÃÂ State Secretary.
After retiring asÃÂ Secretary of State,ÃÂ he wentÃÂ intoÃÂ industry as aÃÂ manager.ÃÂ On May 15, 1968, Knieper became chairman of the board of theÃÂ Vereinigte Flugtechnische WerkeÃÂ (VFW) inÃÂ Bremen.ÃÂ After the merger of VFW withÃÂ Fokker,ÃÂ he became chairman of the board of directors of the central company VFW-Fokker and in April 1970 also chairman of the supervisory board of Vereinigte Flugtechnische Werke Fokker GmbH in Bremen (until 1974).
From 1973 to 1974 Knieper was President of theÃÂ Federal Association of the German Aerospace IndustryÃÂ (BDLI).
