Vepa Kamesam

Vepa Kamesam is an Indian banker who served as a Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and as Managing Director of the State Bank of India (SBI).

Career

He served as the Director of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development from 2001 to 2003 and National Housing Bank from 2001 to 2003.

He also served on the board of the High Mark Credit Information Services Pvt Ltd (High Mark Credit Bureau).

Managing Director of SBI

He joined the State Bank of India as probationary officer and rose through the ranks to become the Managing Director.

Deputy Governor of RBI

He along with G P Muniappan were appointed as deputy governors of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 2 July 2001. They replaced Jagdish Capoor and S P Talwar, respectively, who had completed their tenures.
