Do you remember â my sweet Lucia
The first time â we talked to each other?...
It was the festival â [of the sanctuary] of the Schirannetta...
We met â there on the parvis
You wore a dress â all flowery...
To rush you â I pinched you...
You blushed â as I stared at you...
You slapped me â I got your slap...
But your hand [] â was so pretty
That on my face â it never hurt...
We made peace â with a small apple,
Small fish, soda â and cotton candy...
I bought you two hooves â with a bow on...
My word â you accepted it...
(I kept in stock â three cows in the byre)
And after Easter â we got married...
Now you are old â my sweet Lucia,
And I am no longer able â to play the fool...
But when I see â the Schirannetta
I still hear the sounds â I used to hear as your valentine!
