Vanja LazarovaâÂÂDimitrova ( ÃÂðýÃÂð ÃÂð÷ðÃÂþòð â ÃÂøüøÃÂÃÂþòð born 27 April 1930 - 12 March 2017 ) is a folk singer from the Republic of Macedonia .
She was awarded the "October 11 State Award for Culture and Art in 2014.
Vanya Lazarova was born on 27 April 1930 in the Kratovo village of Stratsin , then in Yugoslavia. Vanya Lazarova was born into a musically gifted family. Her father was a deputy during the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After graduating from pedagogical school, she became a folk dancer in the Tanets ensemble . Later, she was a teacher in the Pece Atanasovski orchestra.
Vanya Lazarova sings with various folklore ensembles. She was a member of the Macedonian Radio and Television ensemble, and Tanec ensemble. She toured with the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra . She is the first singer from the Republic of Macedonia to record with Philips and Polygram. She has a contribution to the music of the film "Before the Rain," by Milcho Manchevski , which was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1994.
After being denied a National Artist pension, visibility on Facebook caused a furor resulting in her obtaining National Artist status. She was the subject of a documentary film .
