Tips Cassettes & Records Co was established as a partnership firm in 1988 by Kumar S. Taurani and Ramesh S. Taurani in Mumbai. The firm initially focused on the manufacture and trade of audio and video cassettes, setting up its first manufacturing facility in 1990 in <nowiki>Palghar</nowiki>, <nowiki>Maharashtra</nowiki>. In 1992, R.K Electronics was dissolved and merged with Tips. In 1996, the firm was converted into a joint stock company and incorporated as Tips Industries Limited on 8 May 1996.
