"The Thin Air" is a 1952 American television play that was an episode of The Philco Television Playhouse.
It was based on the real life disappearance of Dorothy Arnold.
A young girl disappears on the night of her engagement party.
Elliott also adapted the script for radio, and a play version was broadcast in Australia in 1954 for The General Motors Hour.
The Age wrote "it made excellent listening."
Elliott reworked the material for "Whereabouts Unknown", an episode of The Kaiser Aluminum Hour starring MacDonald Carey and Kim Hunter.
The Buffalo News wrote "Kim Hunter had a great role and she lived it up to the hilt... the play built to a poignant finale."
The Atlanta Journal called it a "superficial drama" which "wasted the talents of Kim Hunter."
