The Old West (film)

The Old West is a 1952 American Western film directed by George Archainbaud and starring Gene Autry. The film's sets were designed by the art director Charles Clague.

Plot

Gene Autry is a man who sells and tames wild horses for the Saddlerock stagecoach line, which is managed by Arlie Williams. Autry's only rival is Doc Lockwood, who is determined to seize Autry's contract and eliminated him from the competition. Lockwood ambushes and shoots Gene, who is then nursed back to health by the peddler Panhandle Gibbs. The conflict escalates when a race is set up to test their respective horses, during which Lockwood sabotages Gene's stagecoach by loosening the wheel, causing it to wreck. Gene ultimately confronts Lockwood in a gunfight, putting an end to his nefarious scheming.
