The Cemetery of the Eagles (Spanish:El cementerio de las águilas) is a 1939 Mexican historical war film directed by Luis Lezama and starring Jorge Negrete, Margarita Mora and José Macip. It is set during the MexicanâÂÂAmerican War of the 1840s. The film's sets were designed by José RodrÃÂguez Granada. The battles of Churubusco and Chapultepec were recreated. It premiered on 1 September 1939, the same day as the Second World War broke out in Europe. The film's overtly patriotic theme proved very popular at the Mexican box office.
