The Boys of Dungeon Lane is the upcoming nineteenth solo studio album by English musician Paul McCartney, scheduled to be released on 29 May 2026. Co-produced with Andrew Watt in sessions dating back to 2021, it was announced on 26 March 2026 along with the release of its lead single, "Days We Left Behind".
The Boys of Dungeon Lane is named after a road in the Liverpudlian area of Speke, and is generally inspired by McCartney's childhood memories of Liverpool, including his enjoyment of bird-watching. Before the album's announcement, McCartney posted a bird-themed playlist to his website. On 25 March 2026, McCartney's brother Mike made a social media post about posters being put up around Liverpool featuring the artwork for the album, revealing that his son, Josh, was the designer. The album was officially announced the next day.
The album artwork pays homage to the city that raised Paul. Inspired by Liverpool's iconic street signs, the cover carries the postcode L24, anchoring the project firmly in the neighbourhoods that defined Paul's youth.
The album is co-produced by Andrew Watt. McCartney and Watt first met in 2021, and their first recording session together resulted in the album opener "As You Lie There". McCartney played the majority of instruments. The record was recorded in sessions between legs of his Got Back tour, spanning five years and alternating between Los Angeles and McCartney's home studio in East Sussex.
The lead single, "Days We Left Behind", was released on 26 March 2026. The album, planned for a 29 May 2026 release, is said to lyrically focus on childhood memories, his parents, and pre-fame adventures with former Beatles bandmates George Harrison and John Lennon, with "Wings-style rock, Beatles-style harmonies, and McCartney-style grooves" in the music.
The album was launched together with the custom Google Street View imagery captured on Dungeon Lane (which is also embedded to the main website: https://theboysofdungeonlane.com/)
