Teresa Adams (c. 1869 âÂÂ1947) was an American civil rights activist and suffragist.
Adams was born in Keokuk, Iowa, about 1869, and moved with her sister to Davenport, Iowa, in 1895.
She was African-American and joined civil rights organizations, including the Toussaint L'Ouverture Club. In 1914, when the Iowa Association of Colored WomenâÂÂs Clubs (IACWC), later known as the Iowa Federation of Colored WomenâÂÂs Clubs, established a standing suffrage committee Adams was its leader. She travelled throughout Iowa to give speeches on behalf of the committee.
