Suruà(of Jiparaná), also known as PaÃÂter or SuruÃÂ-PaÃÂter, is a Tupian language of Brazil. The Suruàof Rondônia call themselves Paiter, which means âÂÂthe true people, we ourselves". They speak a language of the Tupi group and Monde language family. There were 1,375 SuruÃÂ-PaÃÂter in 2014.

Consonants
- /ò/ can be heard as either [ò] or [w] in free variation, and as [ø] when before voiceless consonants.
- /b/ can be heard as prenasal [áµÂb] when after a nasal vowel, or when in initial position.
- /h/ can be heard as voiced [æ] when between vowels. It is also said to be heard as a voiceless lateral [lÃÂ¥], among elder speakers.
- /j/ can be heard as nasal [jÃÂ] when preceding or in between nasal vowels.
- Sounds /p, t, k, m, n, Ã
Â/, can be heard as [pÃÂ, tÃÂ, kÃÂ, mÃÂ, nÃÂ, Ã
ÂÃÂ] in word-final position.
