Sukur (Adikimmu Sukur, Gemasakun, Sakul, Sugur, Sakun) is a BiuâÂÂMandara language of Madgali LGA, Adamawa State, Nigeria.
Phonology
- /â±±/ is only found intervocalically in ideophones.
- /ì/ is often pronounced [x] word-initially.
- /tÃÂ dÃÂ/ are often lenited to [ÃÂ ÃÂ] in fast speech.
- /k/ can vary to [x~k÷~w~g].
- /a/ can be raised to either [e] or [o].
- /ÃÂ/ is epenthetic. It is heard as [ÃÂÃÂ¥] if following an unvoiced consonant and if it does not bear any tone, and can also unpredictably be realized as [uÃÂ¥] in fast speech.
Sukur also has two tones; high and low.
