Storhamar HÃÂ¥ndball Elite is the professional women's handball team of the Norwegian multi-sports club Storhamar IL based in Hamar. The team plays in REMA 1000-ligaen, the top division in the country, since its promotion in 2016.
History
Storhamar IL was founded in 1935 as Storhamar AIL, a workers' sports club which was a member of Arbeidernes Idrettsforbund.
In 2015 the team was relegated to the 1st Division due to bad economy, but the year after they were promoted again.
They competed in the 2022âÂÂ23 Women's EHF Champions League, for the first time. In 2023-24 they became the first Norwegian club to win the EHF European League. In the 2024-25 season the club won their first ever Norwegian championship, and did so undefeated. The same season they actually won "the treble", meaning the series, the cup and the playoffs.
