Steve Claggett (born June 11, 1989) is a Canadian professional boxer who has challenged for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super lightweight title.
Claggett has Chinese ancestry through his maternal grandfather. At age 19 he started having trouble with the law which led to boxing to help cope
Claggett had a successful amateur career with 29 fights and winning the Alberta Provincial Championships and in 2007, the Canadian National Championships.
Claggett made his debut against Brandon Carlick in Edmonton in September 2008. He won a majority decision. Claggett suffered his first defeat of his career against Romeo Jakosalem in the Philippines. This was also his first fight outside of Canada.
Claggett faced off against fellow Canadian Yves Ulysse Jr. twice as a professional with both fighters picking up a win each. Claggett won the first fight in Montreal in October 2017 on a split decision. Ulysse Jr got revenge in April 2019 in California winning on a unanimous decision.
Claggett had his biggest fight to date on June 29 when he took on WBO champion Teofimo Lopez. Despite putting up a good effort Claggett was unsuccessful and lost a unanimous decision.
