Sán La (; Tai Dam: ) is a city in the north-west region of Vietnam. It is the capital of Sán La Province. It is bordered by ThuáºÂn Châu District, Mðá»Âng La District, and Mai Sán District.
In the era of the Sip Hoc Chau Tai, Sán La was a fort of the Black Tai.
As of 2019 the city had a population of 106,052, covering an area of 323.5 km<sup>2</sup>.
Sán La City is divided into 12 commune-level sub-divisions, including 7 wards (Chiá»Âng An, Chiá»Âng Cái, Chiá»Âng Lá»Â, Chiá»Âng Sinh, Quyết Tâm, Quyết Thắng, Tô Hiá»Âu) and 5 rural communes (Chiá»Âng Cá»Â, Chiá»Âng ÃÂen, Chiá»Âng Ngần, Chiá»Âng Xôm, Hua La).
Like most of Northern Vietnam, Sán La has a dry-winter humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification: Cwa), affected by the East Asian monsoons.
