Shakil Khan

Shakil Ahsan (born 3 November 1973), better known as Shakil Khan, is a Bangladeshi film actor, politician, businessman, and social activist who predominantly works in Dhallywood cinema. He made his debut in the film Amar Ghor Amar Behesht (1997).

Starting his film career with success of Amar Ghor Amar Behest, he continued to be a lead actor in genres like romance, social and action in movies such as Paharadar, Maa Jokhon Bicharok, Biyer Phul, Narir Mon, Jibon Chabi, Praner Priyotoma, Sontrashi Bandhu, Ei MonTomake Dilam, Milon Malar Prem, Dushtu Meye Misthi Chele, Jabi Koi, Manush Keno Omanush, Hridoyer Bashi, Sobar Ojante, Amar Antore Tumi, Giringibaj and Bolona Bhalobashi. Starting from 2001, his career seemed to be on a gradual decline, and his film releases dropped to 6 per year from 10, often starting as a side actor.

Some of his notable performances as a supporting actor are Mayer Bodla, Bhul Sob E Bhul, Manush Manusher Jonno, Sokhi Tumi Kar, Mon, Baba Amar Baba, Koshto, Biyanshab and Tomakey Khujchi.

Personal life

Shakil was born on 3 November 1973 in Bagherhat.

Politics

When Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-3, resigned from parliament in April 2018 to run for mayor of Khulna, Khan considered contesting the resulting by-election as an independent candidate. He decided against a run, however, and Habibun Nahar, Khaleque's wife, was elected unopposed.

Khan sought the Awami League nomination for the seat in the December 2018 general election, but the party chose the incumbent.

Film career

Khan went on to perform in films Paharadar, Biyer Phul, Narir Mon, Koshto, and Abujh Bou, among others.

Khan wed actress Jona, his co-star in the 2002 film Hridoyer Bashi, but the marriage did not last long.
