Saurashtra cricket team is one of the three first-class cricket teams based in the Indian state of Gujarat (the other two being the Baroda cricket team and the Gujarat cricket team) that competes in India's first-class cricket tournament Ranji Trophy and limited-overs cricket tournaments Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Previous teams competing from Saurashtra were Nawanagar and Western India. Nawanagar won the Ranji Trophy in 1936âÂÂ37 and were runners up in 1937âÂÂ38. Western India won the Ranji Trophy in 1943âÂÂ44.
Saurashtra began competing as Kathiawar in the 1946âÂÂ47 Ranji Trophy. In the 1950âÂÂ51 Ranji Trophy they started competing as Saurashtra.
Saurashtra were runners-up in the Ranji Trophy to Mumbai in 2012âÂÂ13 and 2015âÂÂ16 and in 2018âÂÂ19 against Vidarbha. They finally won the Ranji Trophy for the first time in 2019âÂÂ20 when they beat Bengal on first-innings lead in the final at Rajkot. They won again in 2022âÂÂ23, when they beat Bengal again, this time by nine wickets in the final at Kolkata.
