Sarai Aghat is a historic town located in the Aliganj tehsil of Etah district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated on the border of Etah and Farrukhabad districts. The town is renowned for its archaeological significance and ancient mounds.
Sarai Aghat is identified with the ancient city of Aghat. According to local tradition and archaeological surveys conducted by Alexander Cunningham, the town was founded by Raja Agat Sen.
The "Sarai" prefix was added during the Mughal period when a large inn (sarai) and market were established, reportedly by Nawab Yaqoot Khan of Farrukhabad, to facilitate trade and military movements along the historical routes.
