Renato Mannheimer

Renato Mannheimer (born July 27, 1947) is an Italian pollster, sociologist, and academic. He has been a professor of sociology at the University of Milano-Bicocca and is a member of the advisory board at the research institute Eumetra.

Education and academic career

Mannheimer was born in Milan. He graduated in Business Economics from Bocconi University in 1971. He has held teaching positions at the University of Genoa, the University of Naples Federico II, and the University of Salerno.

His research involves electoral behavior and public trust in political institutions. He contributed sociological entries to the Treccani Encyclopedia regarding the methodology of opinion polling.

Media and professional activities

Mannheimer is a frequent commentator on Italian television, appearing on RAI programs such as Porta a Porta and the La7 program Piazzapulita. He has served as a political analyst for Corriere della Sera and contributes to Il Giornale and Italia Oggi.

Until February 2014, he chaired the Agency for the Control and Quality of Public Services in Rome. He resigned following an investigation into tax evasion. In 2015, the proceedings concluded with a plea bargain and the full restitution of the contested tax amounts to the authorities.
