Norman Gerrard "Red, Norm" Armstrong (October 17, 1938 â July 23, 1974) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played seven games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1962âÂÂ63 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1960 to 1973, was mainly spent in the American Hockey League.
Norm Armstrong played seven games in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs. During those games, he scored one goal and added one assist for a total of two points. He also earned two penalty minutes.
He also played for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
He was inducted into the Rochester Americans Hall of Fame in 1986. He played for the Americans during 1962âÂÂ71 and in 1972âÂÂ73. He retired during training camp prior to the 1973âÂÂ74 season. He is third in the Americans franchise for most games played at 566. Following his untimely death from a fall in a construction accident in 1974 at age 35, the Rochester Americans retired his number 6 jersey.
