RK Alkaloid (Macedonian: ààÃÂûúðûþøô) is a Macedonian team handball club from Skopje, that plays in the Macedonian Handball Super League and EHF European Cup.
History
The club was founded on 7 July 2021 and immediately started competing in the second tier of Macedonian Handball. Behind the club is the Alkaloid company, which owns 100% of the club. RK Alkaloid started competing in the Macedonian First League in the 2021âÂÂ22 season and managed to win the league title in their first season, securing a place in the Macedonian Handball Super League for the 2022âÂÂ23 season. They finished 2nd in the 2022-23 Macedonian Handball Super League season and they competed in the EHF European League group stage for the first time in the season 2023-24.
In 2024 Alkaloid won the Cup final for the first time, beating Pelister .The Cup of Macedonia brought a super-dramatic final between Alkaloid and Eurofarm Pelister, which was decided by penalties. The regular part ended with a score of 22-22, and after the sevens, Alkaloid was better, which won 25-23 and won the first historical trophy in the Cup of Macedonia.
Super Cup 2024 The handball players of Alkaloid historically won the Supercup of Macedonia, after defeating the champion Eurofarm Pelister with 30-33 (14-19) in the final in Gevgelija. The match in the "July 26" hall was won by the Skopje team, which imposed itself from the start and had a constant advantage. Kire Lazarov's boys had enough concentration and nerves in the key moments, so in the end they deservedly rejoiced.
EHF European Cup 2024-25, after beating AEK H.C. in the finals, Alkaloid became the third Macedonian handball club with a European trophy and the first one to ever win the EHF European Cup. With this win Kiril Lazarov became the first Macedonian to win a European trophy both as a player and a coach.
