The Durnovo () (known variant 'Durnovy' [plural], 'Durnov'[m] ,'Durnova' [f] ()) is a prominent family of Russian nobility. Durnovo is one of two Russian noble families, of which the most famous is the branch of the Tolstoy family ().
In the mid 15th century The Velvet Book lists founder Mikula F. Durnovo () grandson of Vasily Yurevich Tolstoy (), nicknamed as Durnoy () [Could be translated as: A Fool, Spoiled, Bad, Joker]) as a founder of the family. His brothers Daniel () and Basil () founded families of Danilov () and Vasilchikov (). Durnovo listed in the sixth part of the Sovereign's Pedigree Book of Vologda, Kaluga, Kostroma, Moscow, OrÃÂl, and St. Petersburg, Tambov, Tula and Tver provinces.
The family is registered in the sixth part of the Sovereign's Pedigree Book (the nobility of the Russian Empire) for several provinces, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tula, and Vologda.
Durnovo's coat of arms is practically identical to the "parent" coat of arms of Tolstoy family
