Pravoberezhny District (; , Raxizfarsy rajon) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the eight in the Republic of North OssetiaâÂÂAlania, Russia. It is located in the north of the republic. The area of the district is . Its administrative center is the town of Beslan. Population: 55,685 (2002 Census); The population of Beslan accounts for 64.4% of the district's total population.
The word "Pravoberezhny" () in Russian literally means "right-bank" coming from the Russian words "Pravo" () meaning Right and "Bereg" () meaning shore. The Ossetian name "Rakhisfars" has the same meaning coming from the Ossetian words "Rakhis" () meaning Right and "Fars" () meaning side.
