As of 2024, Azerbaijan has a crude birth rate of 10.0â°. Rural areas tend to have higher birth rates compared to urban areas (11.4â° and 8.9â°, respectively).
As of 2024, the economic regions of Mountainous Shirvan and Lankaran-Astara have the highest birth rate in Azerbaijan. On the other hand, the Absheron-Khizi economic region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have the lowest birth rate in the country. The highest death rate is in the Gazakh-Tovuz economic region, while the lowest is in Absheron-Khizi.
