Podocarpus macrophyllus var. maki is a variety of conifer in the family Podocarpaceae. It is a variety of Podocarpus macrophyllus native to southern China, northern Myanmar, Taiwan, and south-central and southern Japan.
Podocarpus macrophyllus var. maki is an evergreen tree growing up to 15 metres tall. Its branches are strong and horizontal with dense branchlets. Leaves are thick and leathery and spirally arranged, up to 18 ÃÂ 1 cm, bright green above and glaucous beneath. It varies from P. macrophyllus var. macrophyllus only in leaf width and receptacle color.
Podocarpus is derived from Greek, meaning âÂÂstalked fruitâÂÂ. It was named in reference to the fleshy fruit stalks of some species.
