Pithapuram railway station (station code:PAP), is an Indian Railways station in Pithapuram, a town in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh. It lies on the VijayawadaâÂÂChennai section and is administered under Vijayawada railway division of South Central Railway zone. Thirty trains halt in this station every day. It is the 806th-busiest station in the country.
Between 1893 and 1896, of the East Coast State Railway, between Vijayawada and was opened for traffic. The southern part of the East Coast State Railway (from Waltair to Vijayawada) was taken over by Madras Railway in 1901.
In terms of earnings and outward passengers handled, Pithapuram is categorized as a Non-Suburban Grade-5 (NSG-5) railway station. Based on the reâÂÂcategorization of Indian Railway stations for the period of 2017âÂÂ18 and 2022âÂÂ23, an NSGâÂÂ5 category station earns between â crore and handles passengers.
