Perrott Hill Prep School

Perrott Hill is an independent day and boarding co-educational preparatory school located in the village of North Perrott, Somerset.

The school currently caters for girls and boys aged 3–13; however, from September 2027, it will incrementally increase its age range up to sixteen, to include GCSE.

Site & Facilities

The School is situated in North Perrott Manor House, a Grade II* listed building built in 1877 and designed by Thomas Henry Wyatt.

The school site has since been expanded to include several varying facilities, with the majority of academic accommodation housed to the west of the manor house.

History

The School was founded in 1946 by Bill and Nora Grundy, teachers at Feltonfleet School, in Surrey, whom had been evacuated to North Perrott Manor during the Second World War.

Ownership

In October 2020, following increasing financial losses from declining enrolment, Perrott Hill joined the Stirling Education Group, which has since become Perrott Hill Education, operated by Winchester BV, and incorporating several schools overseas. Since then, the school no longer has charitable status.

Expansion

In February 2026, It was announced the school would expand to include GCSE, in three phases, commencing in September 2027. From then, the school will cease to be a prep school after eighty years.

Leadership

From April 2026, previous Deputy Head of 15 years, Will Silk, will take up the school's headship, rejoining from Truro School Prep, where he has been Assistant Head (Pastoral) for the past year. He will succeed Alex McCullough, head since September 2018.

Curriculum

Pupils follow an independent curriculum to 11+. In years 7 and 8 pupils follow the ISEB Common Entrance syllabus for all major subjects. Some pupils may choose to sit academic scholarship examination papers for their chosen senior school, alongside Common Entrance. The School will include GCSE, with first examinations commencing in summer 2030.

Perrott Hill pupils typically go onto the country's leading independent schools, both locally and nationally.
