Paul Deschamps

Paul Deschamps (19 September 1888 – 25 February 1974) was a French medieval historian and art historian. He served as director of the Musée des Monuments Français in Paris and specialized in the study of medieval art and architecture.

Career

Deschamps conducted influential research on Crusader architecture, particularly the fortress of Krak des Chevaliers in Syria. His work on the fortress, notably published in Les Châteaux des croisés en Terre sainte: Le Crac des Chevaliers (1934). He also published works on medieval monuments and museum collections, including Musée National des Monuments français (1945).
