Palkovice is a municipality and village in Frýdek-MÃÂstek District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,500 inhabitants.

The name is derived from the personal name Palek, meaning "the village of Palek's people".
Palkovice is located about southwest of Frýdek-MÃÂstek and south of Ostrava. It lies in the Moravian-Silesian Foothills. The highest point is the hill Kubánkov at above sea level.
The first written mention of Palkovice is from 1437. The village was probably founded in the first half of the 14th century. MyslÃÂk was first mentioned in 1564.
There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality.
The main landmark of Palkovice is the Church of Saint John the Baptist. It was built in the late Renaissance style in 1631.
