Otidea is a genus of fungi in the family Pyronemataceae. The genus is widely distributed in northern temperate regions.
The genus, proposed in 1851 by German physician and mycologist Hermann Friedrich Bonorden, was based on Christiaan Hendrik Persoon's 1822 Peziza Otidea. Otidea is probably derived from the Greek words ÿÃÂà(ous), gen. ÃÂÃÂÃÂà(otos), meaning "ear", referring to the fruitbody shape of some species.
