The Presidency of Tsai Ing-wen began with a high approval rating due to expectations, but this quickly declined due to delays and forced reforms. However, it rose sharply just before the 2020 presidential election in response to the situation in Hong Kong, and reached a peak due to the successful measures taken to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic after she was re-elected.
