Nolan Dyck

Nolan Dyck is a Canadian politician from the United Conservative Party. He was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Grande Prairie in the 2023 Alberta general election.

Political career

Nolan Dyck was elected to the 31st Alberta Legislature on May 29, 2023. Since his election, he has held several legislative and policy committee roles, including service on Cabinet Policy Committees and standing committees of the Legislative Assembly.

In July 2023, Dyck was appointed to the Economic Diversification Cabinet Policy Committee, contributing to policy discussions focused on economic growth and diversification across Alberta. He also serves on the Productivity Review Cabinet Policy Committee and the Legislative Review Cabinet Policy Committee, which examine regulatory reform, government efficiency, and legislative modernization.

Dyck has been a member of several standing committees of the Legislative Assembly, including the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices and the Standing Committee on Private Bills, both constituted at the beginning of the 31st Legislature in June 2023.

He later became Chair of the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship, overseeing committee work related to energy, forestry, Indigenous relations, transportation, and economic policy.</nowiki></ref>

In March 2025, Dyck was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Indigenous and Rural Policing, reporting to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services. In this role, he supports engagement and policy coordination related to public safety and policing in rural and Indigenous communities across Alberta.</nowiki><nowiki>

As a legislator, Dyck has sponsored both a Private Member’s Bill and a Private Member’s Motion that were adopted by the Legislative Assembly. In 2024, he introduced Bill 203, the Foreign Credential Advisory Committee Act, which established an advisory committee to improve the recognition of foreign credentials in Alberta. The bill received Royal Assent on March 28, 2024, and came into force on June 28, 2024.</nowiki><nowiki>

On April 22, 2024, Dyck introduced Private Members’ Motion 510, which called on the Government of Alberta to recognize the importance of the family unit and affirm the rights of parents and guardians in the upbringing, development, education, health care, and well-being of their children. The motion was adopted by the Assembly.

Early life and career

Before entering politics, Dyck was an entrepreneur in Grande Prairie. He founded his first construction company at the age of 18 and later built and led businesses in the region. His background in construction and small business has informed his legislative focus on workforce development, skills recognition, and economic growth.

Personal life

Dyck resides in Grande Prairie with his wife, Sandra, and their three children.
