The river basin includes Zaoqiao Township, Zhunan Township, Toufen City, Sanwan Township, Nanzhuang Township, and Shitan Township in Miaoli County. Nangang River originates from the southwestern slope of Shenzhuo Mountain at an elevation of in Baishou Village, Shitan Township.
