Muhammad Nawshad Zamir

Muhammad Nawshad Zamir (born 3 February 1970) is a Bangladeshi barrister and politician. He is the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Panchagarh-1 constituency (Panchagarh Sadar, Atwari and Tetulia upazilas) as a member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) 2026 Bangladeshi general election.

Early life and education

Muhammad Nawshad Zamir was born in Dhanmondi, Dhaka in the then East Pakistan, Pakistan. His father, Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar, is a former acting President, a Speaker, and a minister of Jatiya Sangsad. Nawshad passed his SSC from Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School and HSC from Dhaka College. He earned his bachelor's and master's in law from the University of Dhaka, LLM from Harvard University, master's in taxation from Oxford University and bar-at-law from Lincoln's Inn.

Career

Zamir practiced law as an advocate at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

Zamir won the 2026 Bangladeshi general election contesting at the Panchagarh-1 constituency securing 176,169 votes while his nearest opponent National Citizen Party candidate Sarjis Alam got 168,049 votes.
