Moto Kasadera Station was opened on 19 March 1917 as on the Aichi Electric Railway. On 1 April 1935, the Aichi Electric Railway merged with the Nagoya Railroad (the forerunner of present-day Meitetsu). On 1 June 1943, with the opening of on the Japanese Government Railways Tà Âkaidà  Main Line, the station name was changed to its present name.
Moto Kasadera Station has two island platforms.
