HÃÂneÃÂti is a commune in BotoÃÂani County, Western Moldavia, Romania. It is composed of five villages: Borolea, HÃÂneÃÂti, Moara Jorii, SÃÂrata-Basarab and Slobozia HÃÂneÃÂti. The population is 2844 people, and the commune has an area of 6052 ha. The commune has three primary schools and five secondary schools.
The first recorded usage of the name HÃÂneÃÂti appears in a document by military leader Petru RareÃÂ dated April 11, 1546.
The BaÃÂeu River runs through HÃÂneÃÂti Commune, discharging into the Prut near ÃÂtefÃÂneÃÂti, BotoÃÂani.
A man-made lake known as "Lake HÃÂneÃÂti" ("iazul HÃÂneÃÂti" in Romanian), used for pisciculture, was created on the BaÃÂeu River using land between HÃÂneÃÂti Commune and VlÃÂsineÃÂti Commune at .
At the 2021 census HÃÂneÃÂti had a population of 2,562; of those, (67.56%) were Romanians, (25.14%) Ukrainians, and (7,3%) unknown.
At the 2011 census, the commune had 2,176 inhabitants, of which (96.73%) were Romanians, (0.04%) others, and (3,21%) unknown.
