Mitami Shrine Mitami-jinja ç¾Âå¤Âå½Âç¥Â社 (also ç¾Âå¤Âå¼¥ç¥Â社) is a Shinto shrine in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. It is located in Senboku New Town near Komyoike Station. It is accessible on the Nankai bus line or the Semboku Rapid Railway. Mitami-jinja is mentioned in the Heian period chronicle Engishiki compiled in the early tenth century. The shrine buildings were destroyed by Oda Nobunaga's troops in 1577, but they were rebuilt in 1592 by Wada Dosan Ã¥ÂÂç°éÂÂè®Â.
Deities enshrined here include Ame-no-Koyane no mikoto (天å Âå±Âæ ¹å½), Kumano no ookami (çÂÂéÂÂ大ç¥Â), Itsukushima no ookami (å³島大ç¥Â), Ookuninushi no mikoto (大å½主å½), Tenjin (Sugawara no Michizane, è åÂÂ大ç¥Â), Hachiman (堫幡大ç¥Â), Kotohira ookami (ç´平大ç¥Â), Susanoo no mikoto (ç´ çÂÂé³´ç·å½) and Mikumari no kami (天水åÂÂ大ç¥Â).
The shrine is famous locally for its comparatively large population of Lithocarpus glaber (Shiribukagashi ã·ãªãÂÂã«ã‹·).
