Meuma language

Meuma (: ') is a Loloish language spoken in Xinzhai Ã¦ÂÂ°Ã¥Â¯Â¨, Mada Village Ã©Â©Â¬Ã¨Â¾Â¾Ã¦ÂÂ, Daping Township Ã¥Â¤Â§Ã¥ÂÂªÃ©ÂÂ, Malipo County, Yunnan. There are several semi-fluent elderly speakers, with no fluent speakers left.

The Meuma are also called Mengwu Ã¥ÂÂÃ¦ÂÂ¦ by the Han Chinese (Malipo County Gazetteer Ã©ÂºÂ»Ã¦Â ÂÃ¥ÂÂ¡Ã¥ÂÂ¿Ã¥Â¿Â (2000)).

Classification

Meuma is most closely related to Samu, Sanie, and Katso of central Yunnan, thus belonging to Lama's Kazhuoish branch (Hsiu 2013, 2017).
