FÃÂrÃÂu (; ) is a commune located in northeastern part of Alba County, Transylvania, Romania. It is composed of five villages: FÃÂrÃÂu, Heria (Hari), Medveà(Nagymedvés), Sânbenedic (Magyarszentbenedek) and ÃÂilea (Magyarsülye).
The commune is situated on the Transylvanian Plateau, on the border with MureàCounty, at a distance of from the county seat, Alba Iulia. It lies at the divide between the MureàRiver and Târnava MicàRiver valleys. The FÃÂrÃÂu river, a left tributary of the MureÃÂ, flows through the commune.
FÃÂrÃÂu borders to the east and northeast Bichiàcommune, to the southeast Jidvei commune, to the south and southwest ÃÂona commune, to the west Hopârta commune, and to the north and northwest NoÃÂlac commune.
According to the census from 2011 there was a total population of 1,569 people living in this commune, of which 69.66% were ethnic Romanians, 22.18% ethnic Hungarians, and 4.4% ethnic Romani. At the 2021 census, FÃÂrÃÂu had a population of 1,303, of which 78.59% were Romanians and 11.59% Hungarians.
