Marie Armand Patrice de Mac Mahon, known asàPatrice de Mac Mahon (10 June 1855 in Outreauàâ 23 May 1927 inàParis),à2ndàDuke of Magenta andà6thàMarquis d'ÃÂguilly in 1893, was aàFrenchàsoldieràand aristocrat.
Life
The eldest son ofàPatrice de MacMahon, Duke of Magenta, andàElisabeth de La Croix de Castries. MacMahon joined theàSpecial Military School of Saint-Cyràin 1873 until 1875 (promotion ofàArchduke Albert).àOn the death of his father, he inherited the ducalàtitle Ducàde Magenta in 1893.àThe following year, on the death of his cousin,àCharles-Marie MacMahon (1856-1894) (m. Marthe de Vogüé), Marie inherited the titleàMarquis ÃÂguillyàin 1894 which was later changed to Marquis de MacMahon.
He participated in theÃÂ conquestÃÂ ofÃÂ MadagascarÃÂ (1883-1896).ÃÂ He was then BattalionÃÂ Commander from 28 October 1895, he was then appointed head of theÃÂ 2ndÃÂ ÃÂ battalion of Foot HuntersÃÂ in 1896 and remained so until 1904.
After serving in theÃÂ 129thÃÂ Infantry RegimentÃÂ as aÃÂ lieutenant colonel between 24 December 1912ÃÂ and 13 October 1914. Also, with the rank ofÃÂ colonel of theÃÂ 35thÃÂ ÃÂ Infantry Regiment andÃÂ theÃÂ 14thÃÂ ÃÂ Infantry DivisionÃÂ under the command of GeneralÃÂ Louis PastorÃÂ andÃÂ Etienne de Villaret, as well as Colonel of theÃÂ 7thÃÂ ÃÂ army corpsÃÂ commanded by GeneralÃÂ Louis Bonneau.
He fought inÃÂ World War IÃÂ during which he commanded theÃÂ 43rdÃÂ Brigade, before being promoted toÃÂ Brigadier GeneralÃÂ on 15 February 1915.
From 1924, he lived at 17, Boulevard Raspail. MacMahon died in 1927.
Marriage and issue
Marie Armand Patrice married in a civil ceremony, Princess Marguerite Françoise Marie Louise, daughter of Prince Robert, Duke of Chartres and Princess Françoise of Orléans on 22 April 1896. On the 23rd he had a religious ceremony in theàchapelàof theàChateau of Chantilly. Princess Marguerite d'Orléans was born on 25 January 1869 inàMorgan House,àHam,àRichmond,àEnglandàand died on 31 January 1940 at theàChâteau de la ForêtàinàMontcresson

He married secondly Amelia Margaret Mary Drummond (born: 2 July 1963,ÃÂ Glencarse), on 4 May 1990 inÃÂ London, she was the daughter of Humphrey ap Evans (later, Drummond of Megginch) andÃÂ Cherry Drummond,ÃÂ 16th BaronessÃÂ Strange.
