After acceding to the thrones of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms in February 1952, Queen Elizabeth II received a total of 113 state visits. She usually hosted one or two visiting heads of state each year. A state visit normally lasted for four days, including a state banquet given by the Queen at one of the royal residences as well as a formal reception of the City of London at Guildhall.
