The history of shopping malls in Texas began with the oldest shopping center in the United States, Highland Park Village, which opened in 1931 in the DallasâÂÂFort Worth Metroplex. The latter and Greater Houston area are both home to numerous regional shopping malls and shopping centers located in various areas of the city.
The Galleria in Houston is the largest mall in Texas.
The DallasâÂÂFort Worth area has the most shopping malls in Texas.
