Electrocution

On February 10, 1949, the West Virginia legislature approves the use of electrocution at the state penitentiary as the state's new default method of execution. The legislation was approved in March 1949 and signed by Governor Okey Patteson later that month. This made West Virginia the last state to adopt the electric chair as an execution method.
