The current inventory of armoured vehicles, both serviceable and active, is likely to increase significantly due to the ongoing war in Ukraine after Russia's invasion. This caused a rethink of Germany's defence doctrine, which includes increased defence spending of at least 2% of GDP and an initial outlay of â¬100 billion on expanding, improving and updating defence equipment. The German government is to outline its defence doctrine in the coming months, but is likely to include formations of additional combat brigades as well as support elements.
